In the design brief, the logo would be implemented on their products in as small of a space as 1in x 1in. My first logo concept did not work very well because it wasn't very readable when scaled down. So ultimately I stressed the functionality of the logo for I feel it was absolutely necessary, else it would be useless. I came up with a badge logo that solved this problem. The badge also works better than the first concept because the delivery is more streamlined. The bear icon is a strong central anchor for my eyes latch onto, and naturally want to read "Bear Defense" from left to right, rifght away. The circle around it also reinforces streamlined communication; all of the information I need to extract is all contained in the circle. This project spurred my fascination of logo design, and inspired me to strive for streamlined communication in my designs.
