Vector Self Portrait Reflection: Logan McCormick

What message or narrative are you trying to communicate in your artwork?

The message that i am trying to communicate through my vector self portrait are warmth, fame, energetic, and flair. It communicates warmth through the colors that I have used such as reds, oranges, and yellows. It also communicates fame because of the glare on my face and how my eyes are looking off into the distance. My vector self portrait communicates an energetic feel through the many colors used in the piece and the variety of shapes used. Finally, a sense of flair is communicated through my project due to the vibrant color scheme.

Who is the artist? What is the name of their artwork? How did they go about communicating a similar message as you? What symbols or other visual cues did they use? How is that approach similar to your artwork? How is it different?

Robert Delaunay is the artist of the Air, Iron, and Water. They communicated a similar message as me by using vibrant colors and a large variety of shapes. This artist used visual cues such as the bright oranges and reds that contrast well with the blues this piece uses. Also, the center of this piece is the most detailed part of it. Delaunay’s approach is similar to mine is the use of smaller and more detailed shapes in the center of the piece to make it a major focal point. Also with the use of bright colors and varying shapes the pieces both have a flair to them. A major difference between our pieces is that Delaunay used some curved lines and he used some darker/dull colors in the the bottom right corner of his artwork.
