THE LAUNCH OF NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE
Housed in the former City Hall and Supreme Court buildings – two important heritage buildings symbolic of Singapore’s nationhood, the Gallery will be a leading civic and cultural destination established for the enrichment, enjoyment and engagement of Singaporeans and visitors from all over the world

To launch this iconic art gallery in Singapore, we are introducing My Masterpiece series. 12 well-known personalities share their views on 12 significant artworks. Do you share their views? What do you see?

MY MASTERPIECE SERIES
The 12 personalities for My Masterpiece were put up across all mediums. Every artwork is interpreted differently by the personalities, that co-incidentally shapes their life story. So what better way then to come to the gallery and tell us what do you see at the National Gallery Singapore?
LIVING ART
The art gallery wants the art to be relatable to all ages and engages viewers from all walks of life.
Hence, we brought art to a whole new dimension, we recreated a life-size painting, and re-enacted the painting. Visitors gets to engage and interact with the actors that we hired from 10 Square @ Orchard Central.
We called this the LIVING ART.
NAKED MUSUEM
Over two weekends from 25 April to 3 May 2015, National Gallery Singapore opened its doors to give members of the public and media a preview of the restored City Hall and former Supreme Court buildings. A total of 72 tours were attended by over 1,500 guests, more than 400 of whom were members of the public who had won passes via our social media contests.

The tours saw Gallery-trained docents leading guests on a 90-minute historical journey through the iconic buildings, giving them a glimpse of the transformations. Participants were encouraged to take creative shots of themselves at the Gallery and upload them on Instagram with #NakedMuseumSG.
WORKER'S APPRECIATION DAY
In line with being an art gallery for everyone, the gallery dedicated a Construction Worker’s appreciation day. To show their appreciation and gratitude towards each and every individual who helped in the construction of the Gallery. The event, commenced with a photo taking session followed by a thank you speech. A guided tour was given to the workers to witness the fruits of their labour and understand the significance of their contribution. This was then socialize on the gallery’s social media platform to showcase the people who helped make this architectual marvel possible.
