Stuppard Family Remodel

This design needed to be accessible. Universal design principles were applied to support the needs of the multi-generational family. Color pallette and materials support their tropical Haitian heritage.
An open plan encourages conversation. The first level has all of the accomodations for the adults to live comfortably.
The bottom level was designed with the two daughters in mind. They need their own bedrooms for privacy and an area to study.
The scissor stair case leading to the basement has a landing for older family members to stop and rest if needed.
The desk is a standard 30” high, accomodated with an ergonomically fit, Eames chair from Herman Miller. Chairs are able to swivel making homework easy and efficient. The upper storage cabinetry is in arm’s reach at 1’- 0” above the desk.
An ecclectic use of natural elements, colors and textures embrace the tropical culture of
the family.
