SMOOT 
The objective of this project was to design a small, mobile item that includes moveable parts. I had to take marketing feasability into account throughout the process, paying close attention to manufacturability as well as material choices.

Smoot the Wheelie Monster was designed to have a molded silicone core that would be enclosed in a two part molded plastic shell. Small metal axles snap into the underside of the shell to hold the wheels in place, allowing them to rotate in unison. A hinge connection enables the tail to snap on and wiggle back and forth as he rolls across any surface.
Sketching out all original character ideas to inspire the personality and overall design of this toy.
An exploded view shows a breakdown of all components. Inner shell and tail spikes are molded in silicone. Main body is molded in plastic. Wheels are attached to small metal rods that are inserted into the underside of the plastic body. The hinge on the tail allows it to move back and forth.
