Brief
You are to produce printed matter containing both text and image using a relevant grid structure in a format of your choice.
You will be given a theme as a starting point. It is for you to decie how to explore and communicate the essence of this theme. Consider your role as the graphic designer as the author.
You will need to source, select and analyse relevant content as well as generate your own.
Your printed matter can be any size. It should be a minimum of eight pages, including the front and back covers.
My Final Outcome
I chose the theme of 'freedom' for my book. From the themes available, I felt freedom would be a visually interesting theme to choose, as I could experiment with it. Initially, I looked into the definitions of the word 'freedom' and I came across quite a few. During my research, I also came across a number of different events in history in which freedom plays a key role. I felt a number of the definitions I came across linked with these key historical events, and this made the basis of the content of my book.
The chosen historical events I've used within my book are Nelson Mandela and the Apartheid, Slavery, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, along with the list of definitions of the word 'freedom'.
Without these key events in history, and their freedom, the world would not be the place it is.
