The purpose of this project was to select a designer to thoroughly research, and create a book in the essence of that designer. I chose Erik Spiekermann, who is a type and graphic designer. With my selection, my solution led me to create a typeface in the essence of Erik Spiekermann. The typeface was inspired by Spiekermann's most recent typeface "HWT Artz," and the first typeface he used which is H.G. Berthold's "Block." Using these two typefaces as inspiration, and putting my own personality in the typeface, I created "Plump," which you can find on my website.
The book is meant to be a specimen book rather than a traditional book that you would read. I handmade a binder out of wood, and used newer like 3D printing and laser-engraving technology to create the details.
