Handleless cup - No.2

As I mentioned in the "About me" section, I don't like handles. I don't have anything against them (well, that's not true, they can be rather unconfortable to use) and I'm not saying everyone should feel this way either.  But as I see it, we just use them to prevent the hot surface burning our hands and there are other solutions for that matter. For expamle, double walls. Now that, I like. But this project is not about that.

In this case, I made these simple little cups and also made some sleeves you can hold them by.
It all started with paper folding...
I made some paper folding for a class, and was trying to put it in another material it doesn't really fit to...
I've found leather for this experiment and it inspired me so I decided to give it a function.
It is sewn by hand to keep the shape of paper folding. (Which took me ages to finish, but I think it was worth it:) This shape makes it a thick enough layer to protect the hands.
This is also a uni project, and a part of the task was to make a package for the cup. I like making packages that can have other functions too and can be used after they are finished with their original "job". Why make so much waste?

This one can be used as a little container (for jewelry, change, candy, pens, etc.). The lid is also a coaster/saucer for the cup.
And my favourite part is: it's a little game as well. It has layers that can be turned around a tube (which is the actual container), so you can make all kinds of interesting shapes. So basically, you can change the shape of your package or container any time you want.

It's made from cork. This one is just a model (but actually I don't mind the raw quality. It reminds me of a big shipping crate of some kind, though I know it looks nothing like that. I just feel it's something big in small:)
