Picture of the cooling tower system with notations is shown above. As we can see, the working pump would suck water in the reservoir into the heater, then the water was heated up. Heated water went through the flow meter and pipe and reached top of the cooling tower. There, at end of the pipe, temperature of the water was measured and recorded. Next, the hot water was cooled by air through the filters. Finally the cooled water would drop into pan inside the box at bottom the cooling tower, where temperature of the water was measured again. By measuring volume of water in the reservoir and pan we could calculate the evaporation rate of this cooling tower.
