Bug Projects For the North Museum

I decided for these projects to go back to using one of my favorite medias: Prisma Colors. I had stopped using them for some time in hopes to better my gouache and ink. I felt I needed a break, picked up my colored pencils and started working. Wow how much did I miss them. I am so glad that I did.

These two projects were for the North Museum in my senior illustration class. The first is a bug pun "The blue fronted dancer" the pun being the dragonflies are ballet dancers and the audience is other forms of bugs. This illustration was in the "Buzz worthy" student gallery. There was about 80 submissions and only 29 were chosen for display. The gallery was such a huge success and my illustration was 1 of about 6 that were sold that night. It was first gallery appearing and I feel like the whole night was a great big step in the right direction in start of illustration career.

The second project was a banner design for the museum. The idea of this is that science is larger than life, hence the bugs are forming a large pyramid on top of the world.

The first project here has been chosen to go in the new school gallery come February and in the spring will move into the North Museum in Lancaster, PA.
