Connections - agile series 1/4

Connections is the first in a series of 4 short projects undertaken in my Industrial Design masters degree. These projects largely use agile design methods, focusing on experimentation, iterations and integrating prospective users from the start.
Connections brings together collaboration, team work and group building to create a chain of objects consisting of mechanisms, where each mechanism triggers the one after it and is triggered by the one before it.  I built a crossbow that receives energy from a rolling ball, and transmits it, via a wooden dowel shot by a brass catch, to an elevated target.
The process involved material experimentation to find the right flexibility of acrylic for the crossbow prod, the right thickness of aluminium to receive and transmit enough energy and the right type of rope (pre-stretched vs. unstretched vs. natural).
