CONSORTS OF SILENCE // EXHIBITION VIDEO
Regarding Portugal’s Domestic Violence, studies show that 17% of the victims are men and the great majority, 83%, are women. Yet, a study conducted by University Of Minho shows a different story, proving that 25% up to 50% of the victims are men. The social paradigm imprison those who suffer. We see so much efforts towards the end of violence against women but we see to little for men who hide beneath the shadow of a conservative society with closed minds.
To be a man, is to be human!
PROJECT // This project is based upon a well known concept from the Japonese culture:
“Three Wise Monkeys” - See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
The concept is related to the victim, that sees no suffering, hears no conscience and doesn’t speak about the problem. On the other side, the agressor takes advantage of that weakness.
"Violência Sem Género" [tr. Violence Without Gender] // The Campaign Logo is a stop hand sign carrying an olive branch, symbolizing the peace dove.
