Introducing the MBU Race Facility, the aesthetic driving force inspired by the MBU Puffer Fish.

Professional road cycling is increasing in popularity throughout Britain and the Middle East, competing with the superiority that it holds in Europe. Due to this phenomenon professional teams are allocating their riders to more individual events that are popping up in the cycling calendar, this questions the value of the large expensive tour busses that are currently being used and argues the need for a smaller more portable alternative that can also meet regulations in stricter parts of the world.

The MBU Race Facility is a towable resource to be used as a simpler alternative to the large tour buses. Marine life and modern cycling design inspires the aesthetic and ethos of this project. The MBU, personifies itself as a team member and hub to be worked around, creating companionship and trust as well as facilitating the team’s needs.
Aesthetic Drive
The designer found a strong correlation between the beauty within cycling and the movement of marine animals. Swimming animals set the water around them moving, and flying animals generate air movements. Other animals traveling with them can save energy by exploiting these movements of the fluid medium; similarly, a cyclist can save energy by riding close behind another (McNeill, 2004).
