This was an illustration designed for Pichcari Retails Private Limited (OPC) inspired from the dhokra art style of Central India. The brief was to create an illustration representative of Cental India to be used for a bag.
Dhokra art is a traditional art of Jharkhand. It is also practiced in the neighbouring states sharing common political boundaries and similar cultures. It is basically a type of metal craft done using brass.
Considering the unique style of dhokra art, I decided to make a face inspired by the dhokra art, which also represents the tribal population of the region. The following design was finally agreed upon and selected.
The initial illustration was then used to create a pattern for a pouch.
Similarly, another pattern was created to used for a wallet.
