Eastern Market is one of the oldest markets in the nation located in downtown Detroit that attracts as many as 45,000 to their locally sourced Saturday Market during summer months. As a notable 501(c) non-profit, Eastern Market was awarded a grant and selected Campbell Ewald (CE) to solve some of their core challenges with promoting the market and surrounding businesses throughout the year. 

 

The mission of the redesign was to provide features that highlight market vendors and local businesses on the Eastern Market website. The team designed and built a CMS managed Vendor Directory that provided users with the ability to create a profile with their business information as well as post jobs and events in a centralized location. 

 

CE worked with Eastern Market on the selection of a new CMS platform to allow regular updates to imagery and content as well as the features necessary to provide a user login portal. We recommended Craft as the CMS platform because of it's modular set up versus a template based design. The modules allow for each section to be customized from design to development and we were able to integrate a social interface aggregate feed of a local startup, Linkies, in order to display posts based on hashtag from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (as well as a range of others) that can be approved real-time through the admin tool.

I worked as the Digital Producer and wore many hats on a small, fiersome team. I was fortunate to work with brilliant digital designers and developers that were passionate, solutions-oriented and worked tirelessly throughout this project and have provided me a once in a lifetime career experience including, but not limited to :)  client point-of-contact, account executive, project manager, creative operations manager, junior art director, legal/privacy terms consultant, quality assurance analyst, therapist, content strategist / UX for the website launch and CMS system expert. 

 

Some of the pages for which I am most responsible for the content organization and art direction are included below along with my incredible team. I was tasked to work with the client to select images from their archive for the body sections of the website as well as several masthead images that were not accounted for as a result of additional pages that were added to the site map last-minute. As a result, I worked very closely with the client to develop and finalize copy for the Eastern Market Every Day page as well a do the content pouring and deep link site navigation/architecture for the website launch.
