Artist Statement
When I was a teenager I bought my first point and shoot camera on clearance in a going out of business sale. I went home and started taking pictures of anything and everything. I felt like I had a natural eye for photography. So after playing with that camera for a few years, I decided to get more serious and buy my first DSLR. I then registered for school to learn the finer aspects of photography.
Moments are continually lost to time. I feel it is my duty as a photographer to capture those moments in time as a record. I like to capture the emotion, the sense of place, the feeling of being there, in that moment. I want someone to look back on my photographs, and feel as if they were there at that place in time.
For this series of photographs, I took a slight twist on my usual documentary ways and instead tried to capture the imagination of a young girl, who wants to be a princess. I want this series to bring out the inner child in the viewer and take them back to their imaginative childhood.
