MIChild PPO Health Care Member Handbook – BCBSM
I designed this MIChild health care plan member handbook and provided art direction of the illustration while working with the Marketing Communications team at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). A key project design goal was to make this book visually appealing to the primary target audience: kids with equal or more education than their parents, who could benefit most from this program by using cartoon-style illustrations to explain key concepts . It was specified that the kids in families who were eligible to use this program were more likely to directly assist their parents in navigating and using the this insurance as they would have English as a first language.
On May 19th 2003, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association recognized this design as one of the best in the nation at the Chicago awards ceremony by awarding a first place Best of Blue award to the Marketing Communications, PPO Products Administration, and Design and Print departments, for their collaborative effort on this MIChild Member Handbook.
