A Study Library in St Andrews

The main aim of the project is to attract more and more people to the library. Transperancy, gardens and journeys are main elements to attract more visitors.

Transperancy: as people outside can see the readers inside the building which creates a kind of interaction which makes people want to experience being there themselves.

Gardens: The building is integrated with the surrounding nature. A courtyard is welcoming all the visitors and roof garden works as open air reading space when weather is warm.

Journey: The act of choosing a book is not just to pick a book. It is a jouney with different feelings on the ramp of knowledge started with a lively environment from the hall, passing through a darker and calmer place to end with the main reading room on three levels with a great view to the sea.
