A Differnt Kind Of Print
In my previous body of work I addressed the issue of how consumers are identified as nothing more than money. This is the unfortunate focus of the world today. With this new body of work I am showing where we will progress if money continues to be the only focus in life. Too many people have become focused on the insignificant values of consumerism, media gossip, and selfish needs. The barren landscapes show an abstract view of what we would leave behind if the world ended, and that is nothing. The phrases that have been paired with the landscapes suggest a cause that could lead to this future. I feel that modern society needs to take a critical look at itself and reevaluate what we want for humanity’s future.

When I chose the process to present this work I wanted to explore a different way to present digital work in a form that was not just a digital print. I wanted to bring back the feeling of the human hand and the imperfections that come with that. Through research I found a process that allowed me to take a digital image that is printed on a transparency and transfer it to a gelatin and acrylic solution that is poured onto a wooden panel. This creates some imperfections to the image, makes every image unique. I photographed the images with a film camera because I wanted to get the natural grit of the film. The film was scanned into the computer and re-colored to create an unnatural look to the world.

In the end I want these images to get people to move away from the pointless obsessions we alow to overwelm and control our lives. Instead we should move towards exploration and production of a new meaning.
