The brief was to come up with a creative solution for a social problem of our choice.
People in South Africa often don’t want to give beggars money because of the belief that they will buy alcohol or drugs with the money given to them. Thanks! (Tokens of Appreciation) can only be exchanged for items considered to be essential for homeless people. These items are located in vending machines across the country. The tokens can also be exchanged for clothes at various thrift shops around South Africa, as well as buy the homeless a night in a shelter.
Thanks! is no longer only a gesture of gratitude, but also the token that can make an actual difference to the quality of life on the streets.
