International Gastronomic Centre_Bruxelles

To define the theme of the International Gastronomic Center, we started with the idea of cohesion and sense of community.
The theme "MEEATING" (union of the verbs "Meet" and "Eat") means identifying as part of a community and meet people in the name of Food. Through it the visitor can discover their History, its Culture and that of other countries.
The project encourages the visitor to think about food as a succession of natural actions in harmony with the nature. The architectural concept of the IGC was inspired by an idea that generates connection and sharing. As a branch feeds more distant parts from the roots, our ramp climbs, defines and nourishes the architectural spaces with people.

The architecture reveals itself to the viewer, in all its complexity, just when he crosses the covered square on the ground floor, creating a sense of surprise and discovery. The covered square is designed as a visual and functional extension of the Place Eugène Flagey.
This large empty space is the center of relations between the IGC and Bruxelles. In this space the sharp ramp borns and defines forms and visual. The first form of sharing takes place through the city market, the stops in the gardens and on the edge of the drip pans. This is the first step of the way through the exhibition. The visitor crosses the ramp and two floors up there is a totally permeable and natural space. He is in harmony with nature and in a relaxing, recreational and inspiring environment.
Here he can fully understand the development and the shape of the building through the full height greenhouse on which the rooms and terraces of the architectural complex overlooks. The exhibition continues to the next floor, in the space dedicated to gardens, where the viewer may attend the cultivation of food, its collection and its sale. The cultural-gastronomic journey continues with the space for the study of food that takes place in modern and equipped laboratories and classrooms for private lessons. Then the visitor reaches the space dedicated to the Food preparation / cooking consisting of a large open space kitchen and open space classrooms. The end of the journey can only be a space dedicated to food consumption represented by a large double-height restaurant which overlooks the Place Eugène Flagey. In this floor and in the last floor there are small rooms for guests of the IGC.
