Winter: a time of solace and contemplation. Frigid with ice and snow, darkness comes early.  An avid outdoorsman, I am drawn to winter’s cruel beauty. 

Last year the Great Lakes were frozen solid, a rare occurrence. This winter we experienced record snowfall in the Northeast. Photographing in both situations, I chose a format that both mimics and amplifies these immersive environments.

Running parallel with the sublime is the reality of climate change.  An undercurrent that informs my work in subtle ways, it does little to diminish my embrace of these extremes.
