BOAT HOUSE was designed as a collaborative project that provides the Washington State University Sailing Club with an on-site shelter near the Snake River. The structure acts as a space for meeting and gathering as well as a means to store essential sailing equipment. Boat House’s location is ideal for quick access to the Snake River.

The majority of Boat House’s construction is comprised of recycled materials. A wood frame built from donated lumber is inset within a salvaged steel shipping container. Other materials such as glazing and interior finishes were acquired through donations and WSU Salvage.

Boat House is the first structure to use ceramic cements as an exterior cladding system. Experiments with ceramic cement and its uses were integral to the design to the project. A variety of paneling systems and structural mixtures never seen before are a result of the Boat House façade studies.
