For this project we were asked to design a bridge to replace the existing bridge connecting Flinder Street station and Southbank across the Yarra River. We created a truss bridge design with a viewing pavillion and cafe at the top of the large structure. Visitors are able to walk down the structure along the stairs and view out onto the city. Our design focused on creating a floating garden space in the centre of the river where people would be able to rent an area and plant their own greenery as a way to combat the minimal green planting space within the city CBD. The floating garden would also act as a small parkland where visitors are able to have views out onto the river.
