The observation of art is an active and complicated exchange between viewer and object. Without explanation, no one can propose to know what the affect the artwork has on the viewer or how the viewer affects the work. This piece is a physical representation of that delicate interplay. 37 eight-foot long strips of flowing chiffon are suspended from a simple four foot square grid. Four synchronized projectors from different angles caste images onto this luminous surface. When viewers begin to approach the piece they inevitable block the light and create a shadow. The air caused by the viewer moving out of the way creates an unscripted dance between viewer and material. Each needs the other to be complete and to complete the viewing process.
