The lack of access to adequate sanitation is a huge problem in India. About 50% of our country’s population resort to open defecation. This crisis is acute for girls. Many drop out of school ones they reach puberty due to inadequate lavatories. Not only is this a major health hazard to cause high death rates, but it is also a serious factor in women’s safety and privacy. Therefore, improving sanitation system with adequate provision of common toilets will also deplete the conditions of open defecation and improve the living and economic conditions of the rural poor
