This project looks at the miscommunication between countries and how culture is transcribed so ridiculously from one country by another. The collection of prints showcase random nonsensical Western/Japanese cultural mix ups and Japanese phrases collected from manga books completely irrelevant to the imagery. This was done with the intention of illustrating how naive a Western audience can be to Japanese culture and language. As the imagery is presented in such an authentic way, it is believed to be authentically Japanese, however, it is not. When participating in another cultures aesthetics, it's important to have understanding for that culture, as things could be miscommunicated or poorly translated.
