JACQUARD: THE WIND OF OTARU

This jacquard length was inspired by the summer wind and freshness of Otaru, a port city in Japan, where I traveled to recently. I used windbells as the main motif to translate the gentle summer breeze and the uplifting atmosphere of the town. The town has a positive and colorful vibe during the day while peaceful and romantic at night, so I wanted to capture the light in both times of the day. The gradient and glowing effect was achieved through subtle striping that gives depth and sense of time to the fabric.
Inspiration pictures and little peak of the town
Final fabric
Close-up: sunrise and reflection of windbells in the canal
Close-up: sunset and silhoutte of local houses along the canal
Thanks!
