September to December 2010 THEA351 Set Design I

Our instructor handed out a ground plan and asked us to design a garden onstage according to the ground plan. The elements on the ground plan include a deck, the outside of a house with windows and door, a picnic table, and a grill. We were to select a specific style and design our garden. My garden design applies a Japanese/Asian theme. I transformed the picnic table into a flat rock by the pond, and the grill into an urn. The model is made with foam core for the model box, cardboard for the house and deck, moss for the foliage, sculpey clay for the rocks, fish and urn, and white glue for the water in the pond.
