Miiroku - Water purification system

The problems of water supply and water shortages in vulnerable areas have caused communities to use improper methods of collection and accumulation of water. This creates a lack of sanitary conditions in the storage of water, which is then used for cooking, drinking and cleaning functions.
Miiroku is a collection, water purification and storage system made from recyclable materials, which aims to generate water reuse for various household tasks. Used water somewhere in the home is collected, as the shower. Then it is purified through two filters: One of sand and clay which is located inside the tubes where the water is stored in bottles and can be used for various household labors. The other filter is composed by the macrophytes plants that purify water when it passes by. This water is used to water the garden system, which contains herbs or spices for home consumption.
It was designed for families who live in neighborhoods of vulnerable areas. This target group is characterized by performing water recollection. They have an interest in saving money and also in growing plants in their homes. Miiroku is a Wayuu word that means "space where the water is." It is intended the system to be a source of water for households.
Made with recycled and everyday materials.
