For this design project, I had to pick a theme from a given list and use it to create three to five multiples of something that are similar in nature. Using the topic of flora and fauna, I decided to choose four different types of flowers (rose, daisy, lilac and jasmine) and four different types of pollinators (bees, hummingbirds, dragonflies, and butterflies) to create a puzzle piece of images. Instead of using curves and indents to fit two puzzles together, I decided to use the shape of flower petals instead.
The different flowers and pollinators were sketched roughly by hand and outlined in illustrator. Then with the resulting puzzle shapes, I laser cut the puzzles into four different colours of art boards. The art board colours were chosen pertaining to both the flower colours and the representation of spring.
