Issue Explanation
The first generation iPhone as well as the Ipod touch came out back in 2007. From there, Apple has continued to upgrade their products and keep their touchscreen. The only thing they changed for the Macbook was their weight, and battery life. After 9 years, Apple has yet to create a laptop that is touch screen. Steve Jobs said that touchscreen notebooks would be ergonomically terrible and it doesn’t work. Some might say it works because touch screens are more intuitive and quicker.
Despite what Steve Jobs says, Apple should create a touchscreen Macbook because a majority of their products are touchscreen. For example, Ipod Touch, Ipod Nano, Iphone, and Ipad. Ipads are getting bigger as well as smaller. The largest Ipad is 12.9 inches which is the same sizes as a 13 inch Macbook is essentially a computer. Even Ipads have their own attachable keyboard, which looks just like a laptop. As Apple says, “See how Ipad Pro can be your next computer.” Apple might as well make a touchscreen computer. Other companies like Lenovo, and Microsoft are using touchscreen technology for their laptops like the Surface.
Touch screen continues to be part of everyday technology. It is on almost every phone including the Iphone, Samsung Galaxy. It’s part of all in one desktops, and tablets/ 2 in 1 computers. It’s part of car’s GPS systems. The only product that is behind in touchscreen technology is the Macbook and Macs.
Audience Analysis
The main audience would be for Apple. This is a public service announcement urging apple to create a Macbook with touch screen capabilities. Apple commercials can be touching at times and I wanted to make a video similar to Apple that will bring emotions. Apple usually does commercials with the Iphone capturing moments that are sentimental. Thus, I started the video with an old product to new products. I wanted to bring back memories.
A secondary audience for this PSA ad are Apple users and possibly PC users. If Apple users switch to PC for their touch screen capabilities, I want to encourage them to switch back to Apple if Apple created a touchscreen Macbook. I also want to urge Apple user to send a message to Apple. The age group for the audience would most likely be for teenagers because technology is everything now. Teenagers are excited to get new products that are touch screen. Overall, Apple is user friendly, so any age group would be appropriate.
