Sigwa n. temptest, a storm with strong winds

 

Sigwa is a poem written on September 28, 2015, after watching Heneral Luna twice and was later on designed to be a visual poem in the form of a book for Publication Design class. It was published on November 11, 2015 with the entire book sown by hand, and presented to a panel of judges on finals.

 

The poem is based from what may have been Joven’s interview with Rusca after the death of his two closest comrades at war at the hands of fellow Filipinos in Cabanatuan. Survivor’s guilt and eventual acceptance, then longing for a future victory we can truly call ours: our freedom.
