1) Who is Ken Burns and what is the Ken Burns Effect? 
     - Ken Burns was born on July 29, 1953 (age 62). He is an American filmmaker, known for his style of using archival footage and photographs in documentary films.

2) Name 3 projects that might incorporate this effect. 
     - The Ken Burns effect is a type of panning and zooming effect used in video production from still imagery. The feature enables a widely used technique of embedding still photographs in motion pictures, displayed with slow zooming and panning effects, and fading transitions between frames.

3) What is parallax?
     - Parralax is the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions.
 
Video Research:
1) What is the Ken Burns effect? When is it used in video projects? 
     - It is frequently used in documentaries when there's no film or video material is available and in limited animation.

2) Name the three main areas in the After Effects workspace. 
     - The three main areas in the After Effects workspace are the Tools, Timeline and Composition panel.

3) What are two ways to import media into a project?
     - The first way to import media in to a project is to go to File> Import> File or just press Ctrl+I on the keyboard.
     - Another way is to go to Files> Import> Multiple Files or Ctrl+Alt+I

4) Name two ways to create a composition. 
     - The first way to create a composition is by going to Composition> New Composition and the second way is to press Ctrl+N on the keyboard.

5) What is an element?
     - An element is an effect that could be applied to layers.

6) What is the difference between dragging an element into the monitor and dragging an element into the timeline?
     - Dragging an element into the monitor gives you control on where it appears while dragging it into the timeline lets you decide when it will appear

7) Name four keyboard shortcuts.
     - Ctrl+N (New Composition), Ctrl+Shift+S (Save as), Ctrl+Z (Undo), Ctrl+Shift+Z (Redo)

8) Why would you want to solo an element while working on a composition?
     - Soloing an element means that element could modified without affecting any other elements.

9) What do the time code numbers represent, in order from largest to smallest?
     - From largest to smallest, the numbers signify hours, minutes, seconds, frames per second.

10) What is a keyframe?
     - A key frame in animation and filmmaking is a drawing that defines the starting and ending points of any smooth transition.

11) What are the "three simple steps" to creating an animation in After Effects?
 

12) How and why would you reduce the playback resolution in the monitor?
     - The playback resolution could be reduced by going to the preview panel and changing the reolution from "Auto" to Full, Half, Third, Quarter or Custom.

12A) What is a solid, and how do you create one?
     - Solid is a color layer in after effects that could be created by going to Layers>New>Solid or by pressing Ctrl+Y.
