Pavement-Letters at the Come on Kids! Festival

The educational goal of the Pavement Letters workshop is for kids to familiarize themselves with the different parts of letters and see how they are made through exploring their form. By assembling the parts and drawing the outlines of the shapes with chalk, they can create one letter after another, create words and full sentences. The workshop is supposed to be an outdoor activity with the advantage of giving the kids free space where they can be loud or run around. The public space is also the best place to display the works. The different shapes can be used not only for drawing letters, but also for composing castles or any other images made out of geometrical shapes.

Come on Kids! is a one-day festival for children developed by the students of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano under the Supervision of Giorgio Camuffo, Riccardo Olocco and Federico Montanari. The main aim is to introduce kids aged 6-13 to the basic techniques and tools of visual communication with help of workshops. Experimentation and education go hand in hand here, to enable every child's freedom to discover and express creatively. Come on Kids! Festival was first presented in May 2012, with the 2nd edition following in February 2013 at the Triennale Design Museum in Milano, and at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice, Italy.
