Deal Card is a local shopping incentive scheme available to anyone who has a card, which is available for free. The associated website and social media accounts have a list of new and ongoing deals and offers available to card holders. The design concept was to represent our pretty seaside town united under the Deal Card logo, suggesting a wide range of offers across multiple locations.
The rear of the card was designed to briefly explain the Deal Card and give a call to action to visit the website. The pebbles were added to reference our stone beach but also to symbolise community and variety in local shops and trades, two important ideals of the Deal Card concept.
My Deal Card.
Deal Card’s are physically available from all participating shops. I took the opportunity to design these card holders to be placed on shop counters and keep the cards tidy but also make them more noticeable to customers. I spent the weekend before the card’s launch cutting and gluing 25 of these ready for the shop counters.
An advertisement to feature in a local magazine, I came up with a simple wordplay suggestive of firstly being a part of the local community, secondly being the gateway to deal’s with shops, and thirdly that the card is “ideal”. The design is clean and clear with an eye catching headline, image of the card itself, and a brief message within plenty of white space in order to communicate with both the familiar and unfamiliar public in a classically styled ad.

6 months after the launch the Deal Card owners came back to me requesting a design for a Christmas poster. The idea was to represent a winter scene but with a lively, warm glow emanating from the middle of the town.
