The lighting in the image above is a good example of split lighting. As you can see from the photo, the girl is half exposed and the other half is covered by shadows causing the split. The girl in the frame is in the majority of the picture so it's easy emphasised. The colour surrounding the girl is dark and dull but her ballet outfit and flower accessory in her hair makes the image more exciting - it could also create some emphasis on her outfit also. Another idea to add is how well the colours work together, the black, pale skin and bright red all work in unity together.
The lighting featured in the photo is split lighting, we can distinguish this because the right half of the picture is more exposed and light, whereas the rest of the photo is covered in a black shadow. The red features in the dress are emphasised because the rest of the photo is either pale skin colour or black shadows. The colours all work im unity together because two of the colours are bland shades and the red brings out and makes the photo more invigorating.
The lighting around the girl is behind the subject so it creates a glowing effect on her, the transparent light I'd shown all around the girl. The overall tone of the photo is warm because of the warm light and tone of the skin colour. Because there isn't much going on in the picture the girl is highly emphasised because there is nothing else to look at apart from a plain white background.
