For my second year final major project at university we were told to create a brief around the word 'post'. 

 

Post-traumatic stress (PTSD) occurs after a traumatic event in a person’s life. This disorder leaves the person in a primal state of survival; they constantly live in fear as their brain randomly forces them to relive their traumatic event via flashbacks. These flashbacks use all 5 senses to make the experience as real as the first time, resulting in them smelling, hearing, tasting, and seeing things that aren’t there.

 

Relive is an installations that uses a VR headset, binaural sounds and scent cards to simulate the sensory take over flashbacks have on PTSD sufferers. A series of 3 videos are played though the headset, each one an abstract re-enactment of PTSD case studies. Along side the installation is a poster campaign, graphically inspired by the parts of the brain responsible for particular senses.
