Freightliner Pride and Profit design competition entry

This was my entry for the Frieghtliner Pride and Profit design competition that was on a few months ago. my entry was based upon the ideas of Economy Aerodynamics and innovation; below is some information on my design:

- Each wheel has its own electric motor built into the hub of each wheel on the truck and drive the wheels individually. These individual electric motors are all powered by an on boar
d electrolysis unit that converts water into electricity. This increases the amount of space available inside the truck, unlimited amounts of torque too each wheel (very important for trucks), removes emissions, removes massive amounts of noise whilst in operation and removes the need for fossil fuels

- My design uses a form of wheel known as a Mecanum wheel (an omni-directional wheel that would allow the truck to turn 360" on the spot), these wheels also allow the truck to change lanes with out breaking out of its optimal aerodynamic form and they are also impervious to flat tires as they use solid tires
- My design features solar panels built into the roof of both the truck and its specially designed trailer, the truck also features on board Li-ion batteries that store the charge on board. this electricity would run the on board electronics

- The cabin windows are double glazed so that windscreen fog may be reduced and so that the cabin may remain at a constant comfortable temperature, reducing the need for power to be consumed by air conditioning and the ability to custom build the cabin interior to suit the drivers needs.

- The cabin features an overhead double bed and a built in kitchenette that runs off the built in LI-ion batteries

- This truck excels with aerodynamics as it features a completely flat bottom, Vortex generators, adjustable height suspension that lowers the vehicle when under way to increase aerodynamics and diffusers built into both the rear of the truck and the trailer too reduce drag airflow seperation. These are of benefit as they increase Hydrogen mileage, speed and down force

- Road following headlights, crash avoidance technology, ACC, GPS, ISA, AP, NV, PPS, BSD, DDD, HDC, TMC and built in video cameras that provide a constant 360" view of the truck and its surrounds that are displayed on a touch screen in the cabin

- The truck also features extensive use of Carbon fiber, aluminium and other composite materials to reduce weight and the need for large quantities of metal during construction

- Bi-folding rear loading doors and Floor too ceiling side loading doors for dealing with bulky cargo

- Fairings over all wheels on the trailer and the two rear sets of drive wheels on the truck

- This design also features a standard coupling system for trailers so that it may be used with existing trailors

- There are also aerodynamic fairings between the Truck and the Trailer too cover the gap and smooth airflow between the two entities
