Introduction
The Enso project was born out of my deep fascination with Eastern philosophies, in particular the principles of mindfulness and well-being, that are slowly starting to penetrate Western culture. My goal was to design a piece of furniture that transcends the boundaries of style and offers a new way to think about our environments.
“Enso” is a calligraphy symbol in the Zen practice, which consists of a hand-drawn circle with a single brush stroke to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. This concept became the backbone of the design philosophy and sent me on a path to explore correlations between the physical and the immaterial, which consequently shaped the final product.
That process lead to the creation of a lounge chair that intends to apply positive affirmation to both the body and the mind via visceral triggers, transforming our artificial environments and enhances the experience of relaxation.
