The challenge was using Adobe Illustrator Draw to draw on an iPad, then edit the content in the parent application (Adobe Illustrator CC), saving and organizing artwork and documents in the Creative Cloud and documenting the project on the Behance Platform.

First, I took a picture of myself to be a reference and use Adobe Draw to draw the Cameo.

I saved the finished work in Adobe Draw in the Creative Cloud.

I edited the cameo drawing in Adobe Illustration to make the outline smooth.

I used another picture of myself to be the reference and traced the outlines on the photo in Adobe Draw.

The reason I chose simply black and white in my caricature design is that these two colors can create positive and negative space. I used photos of me to be the references that clearly show my face and emotions since the cartoony style is more like the dramatic look. Furthermore, I chose the dark blue to filled ellipse shape and light water blue for the character inside because dark blue usually represents calm and integrity, and light blue is associated with the sky, healing, and understanding. 

 

After I had finished this project, I have learned that even the first time to use Illustrator Draw was a challenge to me but by a lot of practice on it, my skills of using digital apps improved. As I don’t have iPad at home, I can only download the drawing app on my phone. However, its screen is not big enough for drawing. It was hard to draw smooth lines by hand on iPad, so I had to be patient and took a little bit more time on it. Next time I will do projects more efficiently in the class by using the school’s iPad.
