My agency had the opportunity to work with the folks behind www.urbantoronto.ca and their new project www.skyrisecities.com. It is a online forum dedicated to the high rise development community. The quality of the web experience that they launched absolutely changes the game in the online world they are part of.
For the launch of this new platform we were asked to develop a promotional video and a print piece. The laser cut logo on the cover, the printing and assembled was handled by Flash Reproductions.
Promotional print is very expensive because it has such a high "bin rate" (the percentage of the material that will get thrown away, most often before it is opened). To then try to and develop a piece that would not only not be thrown out, but potentially shared, is a great challenge for a designer.
We decided to make a print piece that mirrored the scale of the projects that are the focus on www.skyrisecities.com. We leveraged the content developed for the promotional video and reformatted a watching experience to a reading experience.
