The brewing of beer has a long history in South Dakota. It was a cultural tradition that brought people together socially and made the water safe to drink. Until the early 20th Century, South Dakota experienced a boom in the brewing industry. With today’s resurgence of the craft beer industry, South Dakota’s brewing tradition carries on. This exhibit touches on the history of breweries in South Dakota and highlights the key components of agriculture that contribute to the industry as a whole.
