User Interface Internship
During an internship at Xandros Corp. my first assignment was to design a general user interface layout for a personal information manager, and design the email section in detail. This project allowed me to use the design process from initial research stages through to production. Extensive user testing was also conducted to ensure proper placement of buttons and logical visual cues. Following this design exercise I was asked to design a touch friendly user interface for an instant messaging client. The key purpose of this project was to create new gestural interactions that would be unique to the specific device. As this was uncharted territory, plenty of experiments and user tests were conducted to establish easy to use gestures and workflows, all testing and exploration was then compiled into a research and design specification document.
