Donald Trump: America's 45th President
 By Sarah Kenyon
On November 8th, 2016, Donald Trump was elected to be the 45th president of the United States of America. His opponent, Hillary Clinton, lost by 51 electoral votes, though she won the popular vote. Mr. Trump, representing the Republican party, will begin his presidency on January 20th, 2017.
Mr. Trump, in his victory speech, gave proper accolades to his adversary, saying, "[Mrs. Clinton] fought very hard. Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country. I mean that very sincerely." After becoming president-elect, Mr. Trump has begun to choose his cabinet members, with whom he will work for the next four years. The soon-to-be president has first chosen Reince Priebus as his Chief of Staff, as well as Stephen K. Bannon as his strategist. Bannon, who was considered for the role of Chief of Staff, is considered by many to be a very controversial media executive.
Many people were unhappy with the election results. Thousands of protesters have flooded the streets, waving signs, shouting, and vandalizing property. Police in Portland, Oregon, did not begin making arrests until November 11th. Protesters are attacking police officers as well, throwing bottles and road flares, as well as disobeying the officers and causing major disturbances in the roads.
