When sketching down rough ideas and creating the final piece I knew I wanted to focus on the two contrasting word groups; "oppressor" and "tormentor" being one, and "victim" and "tormented" being the other. I wanted to give "oppressor" and "tormentor" the impression of holding great power, looking down upon the viewer and seemingly taunting. Meanwhile, I portrayed the words "victim" and "tormentor" as fragile, meek, and small. They rest underneath the looming presence of the former word group.

For this assignment, I chose the quote "We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." by Elie Wiesel to turn into a visual design for a poster.

My goal with this design choice was to give the viewer a visual sense of the power held and maintained by those who oppress and torment while others stand by and take idle action using visual hierarchy, typeface, text size, text effects, and letter spacing.
