The site location is in the middle of two growing neighborhoods in the city of San Francisco: Mission Bay and Dogpatch. The lack of a smooth aesthetic transition between them creates a rugged, sharp contrast. By studying and identifying these urban' open spaces, two main categories were discovered: coarse and fine open spaces. Coarse grain open spaces were mainly located in the Mission Bay area, and Fine grain open spaces were located in the Dogpatch, leaving the site in the middle needing a third category of open spaces. The Urban Bridge, an intergenerational housing site, will serve as an aesthetic connection between the two districts and provide accessible housing to the general public.

By locating intergenerational housing on the site, it will respond to the fast declination of diversity around the area and it will serve as a permeable edge from the Dogpatch to the Mission Bay neighborhood. The main purpose of the bridge is to be use as an alternative of public circulation to the waterfront.

Elevations and Sections
The elevated circulation will have privileged views of the bay which are only experienced by the new modern loft occupants or block by the shipyards in the ground level. This strategy leaves the courtyard on the ground level as a private open space with convenient  access to the waterfront.
