China Travel Poster

China Travel Poster Creative Process
At the start of Graphic Design class we learned how to use Adobe PhotoShop. After getting use to Photoshop we chose a photo of a place we have been to. We had many places to choose from such as either China or Cambodia. We then looked at the photos and made a decision.

In the end we choose to do China, specifically the Great Wall, as the basis for our Travel Poster. The next step we did was look at the posters from others to inspire us and give us ideas to what our poster could look like. These are some of the ones we looked at.

After looking at those posters and getting some inspiration, we began to make some basic sketches of our ideas.
After we drew ten sketches we chose a few that we liked best. With the selected sketches we refined them into some much more detailed roughs.
After we drew the roughs, we selected two that we liked the best for the basis of the poster we would make in Adobe Photoshop. We had some trouble in Photoshop with layering filters and image enhancements but with the help of our peers and our teacher we were able to learn how to use the tools properly. We then made a couple posters using the photos from the Great Wall.
With two posters, we began to ask ourselves what was the best aspects from each of the posters we made and what we want in our final draft. The font in the second poster looks amazing and it was decided that we would definitely use it. The main aspect that sets the first poster apart is the pattern on it, but the pattern gives it too much noise and makes it look almost pixelated. But we did want some kind of pattern or filter that would make our final more bold and eye-popping. So we thought to try applying a black and white filter.
Now we have a poster that we like and looks like a final draft, but we still wanted something more from it. So why not add a Chinese symbol to it? Like a symbol that means peace.
At long last we have our project done. In this final draft we achieved many of the traits we wanted. The black and white filter gives the poster a bold look. The font with the added affects make for words that pop right out to the viewers' eyes. And finally the cut-out filter and Chinese peace symbol adds a simple yet stylized feel. In short, this poster is the collection of all the aspects that we liked from our ideas, sketches and roughs.
