For many, finding time to go to the gym can be difficult. Work, family, and our social lives often stop us from taking the necessary time to get the exercise we need and want. Many people spend up to one hour per day on their commute to and from work. Imagine we could use that time to exercise. With the arrival of full autonomy in vehicles, this idea may not be far off. FitRIDE is a mobile gym that brings users a full-fledged workout on their way to and from work. This monthly service will pick you up before and after work, providing you with the full experience of a gym workout during your commute. This has the possibility of saving users 30 min to an hour per day. On your way to work, FitRIDE’s modular interior and full-door interface guides you through a warm up routine that includes a series of stretches and low-level workouts intended to stimulate you while avoiding any intense routines that might produce sweat. The interior is equipped with various sensors to track your progress and give you real time feedback on your workout. On the way back from work, FitRIDE provides users with a full workout experience using it’s unique resistance band system. After each use, FitRIDE units are cleaned and maintenance to ensure safety and cleanliness for all users. *This project was awarded 1st place by the class sponsor, DURA Automotive Systems.
