Caricature and Cameo Illustration
Introduction
This project we were tasked to collaborate with partner up and create a Cameo and a Caricature using the reference picture we took. Cameo we task to depict our partners in a profile look to create an ancient form of portraiture. Caricature we are task to create a cartoonish version of our partner highlighting key features of my partner and what she like to do in the future.

Creative Process
Cameo assignment I started off shooting a few picture of Joel in a up right position from on his chair. Once I obtain confirm from my of partner on the quality of the shoot I began to process it into a Cameo. I started off by changing the opacity of the original picture and start outlining the profile of the picture, then I created 3 different shades of grey to create the shadow. using the grey values create a three dimensional look.
Caricature assignment I ask what Karen would like to do in the future and she said she wanted to be a photographer. I shot two different angle of Karen standing in a photographer stance pretending to hold a camera. First angle was up close at her face, then the second was body shot. Using these two picture I use the face picture to give me a template to create a big head onto a small body holding onto a camera in a cartoonish way.
Cameo Workflow
Original Picture
Turn the Opacity of the picture to 50%
Started outlining the picture
Started with the darkest grey first to highlight the darker shadows first
Then I started with the second lightest shadow with the second darkest grey
Finally use the last grey for the lighter shadows
This is the lightest grey without the outline, tried to create by creating strands
Second darkest grey without outline adding more detail to the hair
Finally finish up with the darkest grey to complete the hair highlights
I combine all the layers together Outline,three shades of grey
Finally finish with a frame around the Cameo to finish it up
Caricature Workflow
I took a close up head shot of karen for reference
Then I back for a full body shot
Reference picture of a Cannon camera
I arrange the reference picture to create the profile of the cartoon
Started outlining the camera and resize
Then I using the reference outlining and created the over size head of cartoon
then did the same for the body, resize the body
Then Finally added the arms
Conclusion
This assignment was quite interesting to do had fun creating these with my partners. My favorite was to create the Cameo, that why it was more detailed then my Caricature.
